We’re Here to Help You
They do! While cash has historically been the primary payment method for many of our customers, as a company, we are transitioning towards more electronic payments, including credit & debit card terminals in our delivery vehicles and our store.
Customers should report any unexpected early chick mortality (within seven days of placement) directly to the hatchery using our Online Vet Submission Form. This form and our approval for payment now go to a private veterinarian who will make arrangements to look at your chicks and assess why they died. Mortality after seven days old can also be reported through this method; however, the vet must determine who will be financially responsible before he performs his checks. In both scenarios, we will help you interpret the vet’s findings and guide you toward the most likely cause of mortality and the best treatment method.
In our poultry resources section, we have compiled helpful guidelines, charts, and tips for poultry farming. These methods can be useful for all-sized farms, from small backyard chicken projects to commercial tunnel houses. Guidelines For Brooding Chicks (1 To 14 Days) and Guidelines For Raising Chickens After The Brooding Stage are two sources of helpful information.
You can place chick requests through our Online Order Form or contact us. These requests should be for delivery six weeks or more in the future, allowing us to buy and ship the eggs, then incubate the eggs to produce your chicks – see Why Do We Need 6 Weeks To Process Chick Orders?. Orders confirmed with a deposit six weeks before delivery will receive the highest availability priority on the hatch day.
We can accept requests for baby chicks at any time, including on a hatch day. However, we cannot sell any surplus chicks from a hatch until all of our customers with orders have had the opportunity to get their chicks. When you ask for chicks less than six weeks before production, we put your name on a ‘standby list’ until the day of the hatch; at this point, any surplus chicks will be offered to you. Standby customers prepaying for their orders will receive priority on extra chicks available.
Occasionally, we are left with surplus chicks kept in our brooder house until sold. Walk-in sales are always welcomed; however, there is no guarantee that we will have surplus chicks available daily, so we encourage you to call before coming to see what is available. These chicks are sold on a “first come, first served” basis and cannot be held in reserve.
Of course! We would be more than happy to accept prepayment; prepaid orders will receive preferential treatment when fulfilling orders on the hatch day. Prepaid standby orders will also receive priority once any surplus becomes available.
We manage standing orders for many customers on fixed production schedules and require chicks to be placed on a consistent, predictable routine. Let us know the type of chick, the quantity you need, and the gap between orders (for example, 200 broilers every eight weeks). We can set up a standing order for you. 6 weeks before each chick delivery is due; we will remind you of the upcoming order and ask you to confirm that you still require it on that date.
We purchase hatching eggs from breeder farms in the USA, Canada, Holland and Belgium. The eggs we buy are chosen based on consistent availability, the supply chain logistics (how long it takes them to get to Barbados and how reliable the method of transport is) and the cost per hatching egg. We only work with breeders who follow appropriate vaccination programs, meet their government health certificate requirements for the export of hatching eggs (as required by our Chief Veterinary Officer) and exhibit the strongest integrity in their approach to understanding and adhering to our requirements.
We accept orders for any quantity of chicks for local farmers; we regularly supply customers with orders ranging from five layer chicks to 20,000 broilers on any given hatch date. Our export customers are advised that the most efficient purchase quantities are 100 for broilers and layers 75 for turkeys. The shipping company charges freight by the box, and these numbers are the maximum quantities of each type of bird in a box.
We require deposits on all export orders, with the balance paid in full before shipment. Local (Barbados delivery) orders do not have a mandatory deposit; however, orders with deposits will receive priority on the production date. If we have an unexpectedly low hatchability (nature is unpredictable sometimes!) and we cannot meet all of our orders, the ones with deposits will be fulfilled first.
We have a strong delivery team, covering the island weekly from South Point to North Point and everywhere in between. Please see our Delivery Policy for more details.
Chick orders are confirmed several days before the hatch date, and the day of delivery is also confirmed at that point. Orders for most other items can be fulfilled and delivered on a ‘next business day delivery’ basis. Our trucks start their first deliveries at 8:00 a.m., return to collect their second deliveries at midday, and remain on the road until all deliveries have been completed. Unfortunately, the complexity of planning live animal production and delivery does not allow us to offer delivery at a specific hour of the day.
Currently, we do not actively sell eggs or processed chicken consistently. Occasionally, we keep small flocks of layers or broilers on the property to explore their performance, and the eggs or processed chicken will be made available on a small scale without advertising to the public.
We currently sell broilers, layers, turkeys and some free-range / slow-grow broilers with “special order” conditions. Look in our Poultry Resources section for more details. The most common types of each that we now supply are:
- Broilers: Ross 308, Ross 708
- Layers: Tetra Brown, Tetra White, H&N Brown, H&N White
- Turkeys: Hybrid Commercial White, Hybrid Orlopp Bronze
- Specialty: Red Ranger, Rainbow Ranger, Barred Rock, White Silky

We export chicks throughout the Eastern Caribbean, from Trinidad and Grenada in the south to Tortola in the north. As long as we can access air transportation between Barbados and your island, we can ship to you.
